From email: Ann researched Dinah 20 November 2012
Dinah Tucker (daughter of William our G-G Grandfather) b1853 in East Stonehouse and brother of our G-Grandfather
Looks like lived all her life in Plymouth!
(decided to pick someone whose name was fairly unique!) not a direct descendant, but I'll get more practised…
Married sometime between 1871 census and 1881 census I'll try and find out more
1871 census
Living with father William Tucker in East Stonehouse (just the two of them) brother Alfred (our antecedant) not living there by then
1881 census
she was named Dinah Gilbert, still living with William Tucker (then aged 71 and a Greenwich Pensioner)
With sons William A Gilbert (6) and Charles H Gilbert (1)
No husband mentioned Gilbert at the address but perhaps he was in the naval tradition too?
Living in 14 Union Street in Stonehouse Plymouth.
Family called Discombe also lived at the same address
1891 census
Dinah Gilbert aged 39 living in East Stonehouse with spouse William Gilbert (aged 40) who is a private? Something or other!
With sons William (16) labourer in dockyard, Albert and Ernest (9) both scholars and Frederick (infant) (no mention of Charles H so presumably died young)
Living at 1 Admiralty Street Plymouth
1901 census
Dinah Gilbert aged 48 living in East Stonehouse with spouse William Gilbert (aged 50) caretaker for a boys school
With Albert (19) and Ernest (19) TWINS? And Frederick (10) all born East Stonehouse
Living at 78 High Street, East Stonehouse
1911 census
Dinah Gilbert aged 58 living in East Stonehouse with spouse William Gilbert (aged 60) who is a Caretaker for Devon CC
With son Frederick Gilbert (aged 20) a shop assistant in an ironmongers
Living at School House, 29 High Street, East Stonehouse
Looks like Dinah Gilbert died in Plymouth in the last 3 months of 1928 (aged 75)
